One of the largest starry sky events in Ishigaki Island, the first starry sky protected area in Japan, will be held on August 15 (Sat), 2026, the 25th anniversary of the event, at Nannuhama Green Park. The event will feature live music performances by Rimi Natsukawa, Skoop On Somebody, and others, and a stargazing party to enjoy the star-filled sky.
Ishigaki City's starry sky event started in 2002 and will be held for the 25th time in 2026. It is one of the largest events in the prefecture to enjoy the beautiful starry sky of Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Ishigaki National Park, which was recognized as the first starry sky protected area (IDA International Dark Sky Place) in Japan.
In parallel with the live performance, a stargazing session will be held by a local astronomy guide. You can enjoy the Southern Cross visible from the low latitude of the southern island and the star-filled sky shining in Ishigaki Island where there are few city lights.
The event may be changed or canceled depending on the weather or conditions. Please check the Ishigaki City official website for the latest information.
