Nakagusuku Castle Ruins is a gusuku from the time of the Kingdom of the Ryukyus, located on a hill about 160 meters above sea level in Kitanakagusuku Village, Okinawa Prefecture, and is said to have been extensively reconstructed in the mid-15th century by Gosamaru, a powerful governor of the Ryukyu Kingdom, to its current appearance. The castle consists of six sections built of limestone using three different techniques: nosura-zukuri, nuno-zukuri, and aikata-zukuri, and it is outstandingly well preserved among the gusuku castles in Okinawa. From the first and second enclosures, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of Nakagusuku Bay, the Pacific Ocean coastline, and the Katsuren Peninsula. The area around the castle ruins is maintained as "Nakagusuku Park" and 100 parking spaces are available free of charge. It takes about 40 minutes from Naha Airport by car, and the tour takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
