Nakagusuku Castle Ruins is located in Kitanakagusuku Village, Nakagami County, Okinawa Prefecture, and is the site of a gusuku (Ryukyu castle) built by Gosamaru in the mid-15th century, and was registered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites "Gusuku and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu" in 2000.\n\nThe castle consists of six sections, each with a different masonry technique such as "field masonry," "cloth masonry," and "oiho masonry," and is one of the best-preserved gusuku in Okinawa. From inside the castle, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the central coastline and the Katsuren Peninsula.\n\nNearby is Nakagusuku Gusuku Park, a historic site where Vice Admiral Perry landed, making it an ideal area for a stroll through history. It takes about 40 minutes by car from Naha Airport.
