The highest sacred site of the Ryukyu Kingdom, located in Nanjo City. Famous for Sanguu, a mystical cleft in massive rocks. A UNESCO World Heritage Site symbolizing Okinawa's spiritual culture.

Saiba Utaki, located in Chinen, Nanjo City, Okinawa Prefecture, is the highest sacred site of the Kingdom of the Ryukyus, and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 as "Gusuku and Related Properties of the Kingdom of the Ryukyus.\n\nThe site consists of six rock formations and a place of worship believed to have been created by Amamikyo, the founding god of the Ryukyu Islands, and is particularly mysterious in the triangular space formed by two giant rocks called "Sangui," which overlap each other. Kutaka Island (God's Island) can be seen from there.\n\nThe shrine is still cherished as a place of worship, and visitors are required to visit the shrine in a quiet atmosphere. Once a sacred place where only women were allowed to enter, it is a place where one can deeply experience the spiritual culture of the Ryukyu Islands.
