Urauchi River

Urauchi River Kanko operates a jungle cruise on the Urauchi River, the longest river in Okinawa Prefecture, which flows through the center of Iriomote Island. Both banks of the river, seen from the boat, are a primitive forest with subtropical mangrove forests and lizard's nests, reminiscent of the Amazon. After a 30-minute cruise, the boat arrives at the Gunkan Iwa landing site, from where you can enjoy a trek (about 2 hours round trip) to Mariyudu Falls and Kanpire Falls, two of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan. The jungle cruise costs 2,200 yen for adults and 1,100 yen for children. Plans for authentic activities such as canoeing, SUP, canyoning, and night tours are also available in abundance, with seven services a day (the last service is by course). This is the highlight of Iriomote Island sightseeing for those who want to experience a sense of adventure.
